Returns & Refund Policy

At Asara Boutique, we want you to be happy with your purchase. Please read our returns and refund policy carefully before requesting a return.

Important: This policy applies subject to the rights afforded to consumers under applicable South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit or remove any statutory consumer right.

1. Reporting a Return

For ordinary returns, unwanted items or items returned in accordance with our store policy, the return request must be reported to Asara Boutique within 7 days of receiving your order.

Return requests reported after this period may not be accepted, except where the consumer has a separate right to return the goods under applicable South African law.

2. Change of Mind

A change of mind does not automatically entitle a customer to a return or refund. Asara Boutique may accept ordinary change-of-mind returns only where they fall within our applicable return policy and any requirements stated for the product.

This does not affect any statutory cooling-off or cancellation rights that may apply to a transaction under South African law.

3. Condition of Returned Items

Where an ordinary return is accepted, the item must be returned in an unused and saleable condition, unless the return relates to a defect, incorrect item or another circumstance where the law provides otherwise.

  • Items should be unused and in their original condition.
  • Original packaging, labels and accessories should be included where applicable.
  • Items that have been damaged, altered, used or intentionally misused may not qualify for an ordinary return.

4. Defective or Incorrect Items

If an item is defective, unsafe, does not meet the required quality standards, or is materially different from what was ordered, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

Statutory consumer rights relating to defective or unsafe goods are not excluded by this policy. Where applicable, the rights provided by the Consumer Protection Act will apply.

5. Return Shipping Costs

For an ordinary return, including an accepted change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the item to the relevant seller, unless applicable law requires the seller to bear the return cost.

Please note: Do not send an item back without first contacting Asara Boutique and receiving return instructions. Unauthorised returns may cause delays in processing your request.

6. Seller Inspection

Returned items must first be received by the relevant seller and inspected before a return, replacement or refund is processed.

The inspection is used to determine the condition of the item and whether the return qualifies under this policy or applicable South African law.

7. Refund Processing

Where a refund is approved, Asara Boutique will process the refund using the applicable payment method.

Please allow up to 7 working days for an approved refund to be processed and reflected, depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

Where South African law requires a refund to be made within a different period, the applicable legal requirement will take precedence.

8. Exchanges

Exchanges are subject to product availability and the applicable return requirements. An exchange is not guaranteed where the requested replacement item is unavailable.

9. Items That Cannot Be Returned

Certain products may be excluded from ordinary returns because of their nature, hygiene considerations, personalisation, damage caused after delivery, or other applicable legal or product-specific restrictions.

Any such exclusion does not remove a customer's statutory rights where those rights apply under South African law.

10. Proof of Purchase

Customers may be required to provide an order number, invoice, proof of payment or other reasonable proof of purchase when requesting a return or refund.

11. How to Request a Return

To request a return, please contact Asara Boutique with:

  • Your order number
  • Your name and contact details
  • The item you wish to return
  • The reason for the return
  • Photographs or other information where relevant

We will provide the applicable return instructions once your request has been reviewed.

12. South African Consumer Law

This policy is intended to operate together with South African consumer protection legislation. Where a provision of this policy conflicts with a mandatory consumer right under applicable law, the applicable law will take precedence.

In particular: qualifying defective or unsafe goods may be subject to statutory remedies, including the rights provided under section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act. Qualifying electronic transactions may also be subject to the cooling-off provisions of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
